Case study
First home buyer
Kate had been living and working overseas for the past 2 years. Having recently returned to Australia, 6 months ago, she wanted to buy her first home. Due to Kate’s limited savings, as a result of her travels, she wasn’t sure she was going to be able to achieve this dream. Kate was eligible for the First Home Owners Grant and had also sold her Vespa overseas for $10,000 to put towards a purchase. The application was sent into Liberty who were able to use the grant as evidence of Kate’s genuine 5% savings. A loan of 90% of the property value was approved and Kate was able to purchase a small unit for $112,000 getting her into the property market.
