Pride at Liberty

Liberty advocates for the LGBTQIA+ community through intentional actions and initiatives.

From a dedicated Pride Network to our community charity partners, inclusive policies, and education – we’re committed to advocating for, supporting, and celebrating the LGBTQIA+ community.

The Pride Network

The Liberty Pride Network helps provide a safe space for identifying team members and drives education, awareness and social initiatives across the organisation.

The network hosts regular workshops to give guidance on any issues attendees are experiencing directly or that impact the community. Monthly meetings are used as supportive check-ins as well as a space to plan upcoming Pride-related events.

The Pride Network is an invaluable resource for those who identify as LGBTQIA+, and the wider Liberty community, and its work helps create a truly inclusive workplace.

Liberty Pride Network Speaker Event

Acknowledging LGBTQIA+ key dates

Liberty recognises and celebrates a number of key dates on the LGBTQIA+ calendar by hosting events, external speaker presentations, and distributing educational resources. Some of these important dates include:

  • Pride Month

  • Wear It Purple Day

  • National Coming Out Day

  • Transgender Day of Visibility

  • IDAHOBIT ─ International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Intersexism and Transphobia

Supporting LGBTQIA+ charities

Liberty regularly welcomes guest speakers from LGBTQIA+ organisations. Each year, the Pride Network holds a fundraising bake sale in support of our charity partner, Housing for the Aged Action Group (HAAG).

HAAG helps older Australians access safe and inclusive housing, as many older LGBTQIA+ people who have faced discrimination often find it difficult accessing mainstream housing services. Liberty also directly supports Minus18, an organisation improving the lives of LGBTQIA+ youth.

Liberty staff at the Inclusion Awards

Inclusive employer status

Liberty is committed to creating a diverse and inclusive environment where team members feel empowered to be their authentic selves. We’re proud to have been named a Silver Tier Employer at the 2025 Australian Workplace Equality Index (AWEI) LGBTQ+ Inclusion Awards.

Liberty was also named a Diversity Council Australia Inclusive Employer for two years running, as well as Employer of Choice at the 2025 Australian Business Awards, and one of the Australian Financial Review’s Best Places to Work for 2025. These honours are a testament to our ongoing efforts to foster a supportive and equitable workplace culture.

Ally training

Ally training is offered to all staff and is facilitated by trusted, experienced external providers. The Becoming an Ally program provides an opportunity to learn about the lived experience of others and actions needed to support the LGBTQIA+ community including calling out discrimination and inequality.

Active support and policies

Culture and Community team members are trained to recognise and remove recruitment barriers for transgender and gender diverse applicants during the hiring process. Paid parental leave policies are inclusive of LGBTQIA+ identifying parents, and for all those parenting a newborn, adopted, surrogate or foster child. Personal pronoun options are available on all staff email signatures to enhance visibility and gender identity respect, and gender-inclusive bathrooms are available for team members to use.

Globe Victoria

GLOBE corporate membership

Liberty supports GLOBE, a not-for-profit organisation providing LGBTQIA+ communities, small businesses and professionals with nurtured opportunities to network and grow in a professional, safe, and inclusive environment.

Our corporate membership enables us to assist GLOBE and the annual GLOBE Pride Awards to continue providing networking opportunities so that the LGBTQIA+ community, and our staff, can build and develop meaningful professional connections.

"(The Pride Network) underpins the genuine caring culture of our community that is clearly committed to providing a safe space for all its staff. I’m proud of our Pride Network!"
