Liberty Pride

Liberty Pride

Liberty advocates for the LGBTQIA+ community through intentional actions and initiatives.

Working toward greater LGBTQIA+ awareness and advocacy is a key goal for Liberty, with our Pride Network helping to lead the way.

Our Pride Network

The Liberty Pride Network seeks to celebrate the LGBTQIA+ community, provide a safe space for identifying team members and help improve the quality of life for all. The Pride Network aims to do this through education and awareness of events and social activities for Liberty team members, their family and friends.

The network hosts regular workshops to discuss all issues (both overt and personal) that impact those who are looking for support or guidance regarding these topics.

Liberty Pride

The main actions of the Pride Network include:

  • Provide insight into LGBTQIA+ key events

  • Host regular workshops

  • Be a fundamental support network for its members

  • Contribute to a truly inclusive culture at Liberty.

Support for LGBTQIA+ charities

Liberty has welcomed guest speakers from several LGBTQIA+ organisations and introduced an annual fundraiser. Switchboard, a community-based not-for-profit organisation that provides peer-based, volunteer-driven support services for members of the LGBTQIA+ community, friends, families and allies and Minus18, an organisation to champion and support LGBTQIA+ youth are the main recipients of these fundraising efforts.

AWEI Bronze status

Liberty received Bronze status in the Australian Workplace Equality Index (AWEI) annual LQBTQ Inclusion Awards 2021 and also received the Most Improved Small Employer award 2021 and 2022. As the Australia’s definitive national benchmark on LGBTQ workplace inclusion, it is a terrific honour to be recognised by AWEI and a testament to Liberty’s dedication to inclusion.

Ally training program

Engaging Rainbow Health Victoria, Liberty offers Ally training to all who wish to actively support our LGBTQIA+ community and champion equal rights for everyone – regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, and gender expression. Being an Ally at Liberty means doing what you can to call out discrimination and inequality and trying to make the world a safer place for anyone who identifies as LGBTQIA+.

Training and support

All Culture and Community team members have been trained in recruitment barriers for trans and gender diverse applicants. In addition, paid parental leave policies are inclusive of LGBTQIA+ identifying parents, and for all staff who will be parents to a newborn, adopted, surrogate or foster child. Personal pronoun options were added to all staff email signatures to enhance visibility and gender identity respect.
