Richard Longes, Chairman
Richard was appointed as Liberty’s Chairman in 2005. Richard was most recently Deputy Chairman of Lend Lease where he was a Director from 1986 to 2006 and Chairman of MLC until 2000. He was also a Partner with Freehills from 1971 to 1988 and a founding Principal of the corporate advisory and private equity group Wentworth Associates. Richard is a director of Investec (Australia) and a past Chairman of AustBrokers and past Director of Boral and Metcash.
Peter Hawkins, Director
Peter was appointed to Liberty’s Board in 2006. Peter spent 34 years at ANZ Banking Group in a variety of senior roles and was Group Managing Director – Group Strategic Development. Peter is a past Director of ING Australia Limited and ING (NZ) Limited, Treasury Corporation of Victoria, Clayton Utz, VISA International and Murray Goulburn Co-Operative. Peter is currently a Director of Westpac Bank Ltd, Bank of Melbourne, Mirvac Group Ltd and Crestone Holdings Limited.
Leona Murphy, DirectorLeona Murphy was appointed as a Director in 2016. Leona was appointed from leading insurer IAG Limited where she
performed a number of Group Executive roles including Chief Strategy
Officer and Chief Transformation Officer. Prior to IAG she was an
Executive General Manager with Promina Group and Vero Insurance. She is currently
an independent Director of Stone & Chalk, and until 2016 was a Director of the Australian Insurance Association, and is Co-Chair of UN Environmental Programmes Financial Initiative for Sustainable Insurance. Leona earned her Bachelor of Commerce degree in Accounting and Law from Griffith University.
Sherman Ma, Executive Director
Sherman is the Executive Director of Liberty with operations across Australia and New Zealand. Sherman was previously with Credit Suisse and McKinsey & Company. Sherman has an MBA from the Wharton School and was first-in-class in Economics and Operations Research from the University of Pennsylvania. He is also a member of the Wharton Undergraduate Executive Board.
Heidi Armstrong, Head of Consumer Advocacy
Heidi Armstrong leads Liberty’s communications efforts to champion better financial outcomes for consumers. As an active advocate for property ownership and helping consumers improve their relationship with money, Heidi draws on her diverse experience as a customer, business owner, lawyer, finance specialist and media commentator. Heidi holds Bachelor degrees in Law and Science as well as a Diploma in Mortgage Finance.
Anne Bastian, General Manager - Human Resources
Anne has been responsible for growing Liberty's diverse, high quality team from the company's early days. She is also responsible for the design, implementation and management of all HR policies and procedures. Prior to joining Liberty, Anne held the position of Group Human Resources Manager for Infosentials. She has provided similar expertise to Vectus and LibertyOne and has worked as an HR Consultant for ANZ Bank and Esanda Finance. Anne has a Bachelor of Business from Victoria University of Technology, Australia and a Graduate Diploma in Management from the Australian Graduate School of Management.
James Boyle, Chief Executive Officer
James has been with Liberty for over ten years where as CEO he works with the Board to oversee and implement Liberty’s operations, technology, distribution and business strategy. He joined the team from State Street Corporation where he previously held positions in Institutional Finance in Sydney, Boston, London and Zurich. James has an MBA from INSEAD Graduate Business School in France, a Master of Applied Finance from Macquarie University, Australia, and a Bachelor of Business from the Australian Catholic University, Australia.
Angela Di Rago, Special Counsel
Angela has over 20 years’ experience in the legal profession and in compliance roles. Prior to joining Liberty, Angela worked in-house in the legal and compliance teams of GE Capital, as well as with some of Australia’s leading law firms, including as Special Counsel – Consumer Financial Services at Freehills. She also co-developed and ran the Melbourne University Masters of Law course on Consumer Credit. Angela holds a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) from Melbourne University and a Masters of Laws from Monash University.
Glen Foley, General Manager - Customer Experience
Glen leads Liberty’s Customer Engagement and Technology teams and is responsible for cultivating experience for our customers through our contact centre and digital channels. Prior to joining Liberty, Glen founded several technology start-ups and acted as a software consultant across many sectors including human services, education, aerospace, not-for-profit, debt recovery and hospitality. Glen remains active in the start-up scene through his involvement with boards and incubators.
Rupert Hugh-Jones, General Manager - Corporate Affairs & Customer Relations
Rupert oversees Liberty’s Assured Credit Management (ACM) business, responsible for Customer Service and Account Management. He joined the team from Etihad Airways based at the Head Office in Abu Dhabi where he was head of Corporate Communications. Rupert has more than 20 years’ of Senior Corporate and Public Affairs experience and has held customer service management responsibilities. Rupert has a Bachelor of Economics from Monash University and a Diploma in Financial Markets from Financial Services Institute of Australia (FSIA). He is a Fellow of the Public Relations Institute of Australia and Senior Associate of FSIA.
Lynne Jordan, General Manager - Risk and Compliance
Lynne oversees Liberty’s Risk Department which is responsible for managing the overall risk exposures of the group and its operations. Prior to joining Liberty, Lynne worked with Ford Credit for over 20 years in Australia and internationally. Her most recent positions were Ford Group Treasurer, Australia and New Zealand, and Director of Operations, Ford Credit Australia. Lynne has a Bachelor of Science (Hons) from the University of Strathclyde, Scotland.
Brendan O'Donnell, Managing Director - Liberty Network Services
Brendan is responsible for Liberty Network Services, which is focused on offering a finance broker service. He has over 25 years’ experience in financial services, most recently as CEO of Choice Aggregation Services, one of Australia’s largest finance broking operations. Prior to joining Choice he worked with Absa Group in South Africa as Managing Executive – Personal Financial Services, and Group General Manager – Group Marketing. Brendan attended the executive management programs at INSEAD and the Gordon Institute of Business Science, Pretoria University. He is a Chartered Marketer, and has a Chartered Associate banking diploma.
Susan Paprica, General Counsel
Susan leads Liberty’s legal team and is responsible for overseeing all legal advice within the Liberty Group including litigation matters. Susan has over 20 years of legal experience of which 12 have been in the financial services sector. She has worked within major law firms, in-house at Latitude Financial Services (formerly GE Capital) as well as the Australian Securities and Investment Commission. She has overseen the resolution of some of Australia’s most complex legal financial cases. Susan has a Bachelor of Arts and Law from Monash University and is an accomplished industry speaker on a range of topics.
Peter Riedel, Chief Financial Officer
Peter is responsible for Liberty’s group finance and treasury functions, including liquidity and capital management, financial reporting, statutory results, risk management and portfolio performance and analysis. Prior to joining Liberty, Peter was a partner in the Corporate Finance team at Deloitte. Peter spent 16 years at Deloitte, including 6 years working in New York and Europe. His focus was on providing advice on mergers and acquisitions, valuations and capital raising to companies in the financial services industry. Peter holds a Bachelor of Economics from Monash University and is a Chartered Accountant.
