Leading non-bank lender Liberty has furthered its support of women in sport as Principal Partner of the first ever A-League All Stars Women’s team.

The announcement comes as the side prepares to take on Arsenal Women’s FC at Marvel Stadium on May 24 as the main event of a Global Football Week Melbourne. The match will be preceded by an exhibition match on May 22 between Tottenham Hotspur FC and Newcastle United FC, who will then take on the A-League All Star Men’s side before the women’s drawcard match.

Liberty CEO James Boyle said that in a year that has seen football/soccer draw in record-breaking attendance for women’s sport in Australia, the non-bank was proud to partner with the country’s best in the game for the first ever A-League All Stars Women team.

“We have proudly supported the women’s competition from the beginning of the A-Leagues and are as passionate now as we were then to champion gender equality and diversity on and off the field. We’re excited to build on the strong partnership we have held since 2021 and thrilled to see the best of the best from the Liberty A-League match up against Arsenal, rightly billed as the main attraction.

“In this historic year for women’s football, we have watched proudly as the Liberty A-League has helped to accelerate women’s football on the domestic and world stage, acting as a training ground for some of the game’s best talent.”

The non-bank is also a Major Partner of the A-Leagues All Stars Men’s team, with the Liberty logo featuring on the back of both team jerseys, and the front of the women’s.

This season of Liberty A-League women’s football has already broken records for the greatest cumulative attendance in Australian women’s sporting history – and this clash will see teammates from Australia’s national side go head-to-head as members of both teams in the lead up to the Olympics in July.

Liberty’s Manager – Group Communications Kate Jenkinson joined the first four A-League All Stars players to be announced: Alex Chidiac, Hannah Wilkinson, Nestory Irankunda and Daniel Penha at Marvel Stadium to launch the new Liberty-branded kit.

“At Liberty, we are passionate about fostering partnerships that align with our values. Being active in our support is important to us, and we’re proud to have seen the evolution and expansion of the women’s game with upgraded facilities and games in bigger stadiums.

“We congratulate Chidiac, Wilkinson, Irankunda and Penha on their All Stars selection and are proud to see them don the Liberty logo as they take their place in the lineup against some of England’s best.

“We know that visibility matters and the more accessible role models in the professional sporting arena, such as the A-League All Stars Women, the more opportunities for future generations.”

A-Leagues Commissioner Nick Garcia welcomed the continued support from the lender, building on the strong brand alliance of the past three years.

“The Liberty team shares our passion for equality, diversity and for empowering women to pursue their dreams and we’re excited to continue our partnership into the A-League All Stars matches.”

“This year has been monumental for women’s football, and as we continue our work to grow the game, our partnership with Liberty has proven to be a vital part of progressing our journey.”
